Planning a Twins Baby Shower
As the number of twins (and triplets etc...) grow, so do the number of baby showers thrown for these extra-special expectant mothers. Here are a few ideas to make your multiples baby shower extra special.

Twin Themes
You don't need to have a twin theme for a twin baby shower, any baby theme would be great as long as it isn't singular like "It's a Boy" or "It's a Girl". Some popular twin-specific themes include "Two Peas in a Pod" and "Noah's Ark". Another cute multiples theme is to go with four (or six etc...) baby foot prints or baby booties. There are lots of gender neutral themes that would work for mixed gender multiples like ducks, animals, baby blocks...

Inform Guests
Make sure the invitations indicate the number of expected babies. This will ensure that guests will purchase appropriate gifts. It's always a good idea to include any registry information along with the invitations as well. Encourage Mom to register for high priced items as well as the lower priced necessities. When purchasing for twins many people may want to pitch in together and get a larger ticket item.

Matching Clothes?
Find out from the Mom how she feels about matching clothes. If she is dead set against it, try to find a polite way to warn the guests. This is particularly important if the babies are the same gender or even identical.

Gifts
Parents expecting twins do not need two of everything. There are plenty of items that can be shared between the babies. Necessities like diapers, wipes, blankets etc... will be very appreciated, but getting a fun gift might be a nice idea too. Mothers of multiples will often forgo the cute outfits because so much money needs to go to the boring every day items.
Books on parenting twins and/or a subscription to a twins magazine also make very thoughtful and very practical gifts.

Pamper Mom
Being pregnant with twins can be tough. Pamper Mom at her shower with some special gifts just for her. A spa gift basket with lotions and soaps, special treats, books, music or flowers that you know she'd like are just a few suggestions. Gift certificats for spa treatments or even a pedicure (even though she probably can't see her toes) will also go a long way to making her feel special.

Don't Forget Dad
Nowadays fathers play a large, if not equal, role in raising babies, this is even more true of fathers of multiples. Perhaps you want to include Dad in the shower? If so, invite other men too so he doesn't feel totally out of place. Even if Dad isn't part of the actual baby shower you can get him a "Dad" t-shirt or hat, a new father parenting book or even a box of cigars to give out once the babies are born.
